Is the fitters Id no the same as the company's gas Safe reg number?

No it isn’t. Each company who registers will get a number - that number doesn’t change. But engineers have their own engineer number, which changes every year.

No... each gas engineer will have their own engineer number, different from the company registration number.
I have an old worcester boiler over 17 years and want to change it to a combi boiler. How much would this cost and what can I do to save costs? I want a basic but reliable new boiler

The cost will vary from job to job. I assume the existing boiler isn’t a combi, in that case, it is likely that the installer will need to run a new gas pipe to the new boiler. You’ll also need a condense pipe run and suitably terminated. Flueing options and costs will change depending on boiler location. There’s no way to get a price that will be even close to accurate without having an engineer visit. As for cutting costs, there isn’t much you can do... but something that goes a long way with me is if a customer makes sure all working areas are clear and clean. If you make it clear at the quoting stage that this will be the case, the engineer MIGHT be a little kinder with his pricing.

Josh’s work is mostly sound, but his communication is terrible. I have spent over £8000 with him and always paid promptly as I treat tradespeople well but he doesn’t return my texts / emails / calls when some of his pipework goes wrong. I have had to pay £100 to correct some waste pipework coming from the boiler. Will not be using again for large upcoming works in other houses.
