Arrived on time as arranged to view job. Quote was the most expensiv out of 6. Seemed very capable and experienced just too expensive for what it was. Perfectly confident the job would have been carried out to high standards Just not what I was looking for in a minor facelift.

Painter and decorator

I was satisfied with the work carried out by Decorators-R-US and would recommend the company. Tony is an 'old school tradesman' with good working ethics. The work was carried out to a high standard with lots of preparation and then clearing up when painting was finished. There were no hidden costs or added extras and although job went a day over time quoted Tony stuck with his original quote. Cheerful attitude dealing with any problems while working, unlike many tradesmen today who never stop whinging.

Painter and decorator

Tony took on a large job to exterior of our house involving all doors and frames, rendering, gables, porch and conservatory. His quote was fair and reasonable and he kept to the price, turned up daily despite some bad weather and did a thorough job with good quality materials. I felt confident leaving him with access to house. Tony is a trustworthy and reliable decorator with lots of experience and skill. He spent time on his prep and did not skimp on the coats of paint needed. Overall good result.

In the end I chose to use a different tradesman as they were known to the roofer and scaffolder whom I had engaged already.

Painter and decorator

Anthony has worked tirelessly, throughout our house. He has prepped and painted 6 rooms (incl. the woodwork), sanded and painted multiple banisters having sourced a lovely stain for us, sanded, prepped and painted all our stairs as well as hanging rolls and rolls of paper and a complicated map mural. He is completely reliable and very hardworking. He kept us updated with his progress and did all the work, as quoted, exactly when he said he would.

Painter and decorator

Ruined a hall carpet, only carried out half of the contracted work and has left paint marks over all over the house walls and floor. The worst experience i have ever had in hiring someone.

I have recently had a new heating system installed and the radiators are hotter than they used to be. A strong smell is now coming from the radiator and I think it has been painted with very toxic paint. Can you suggest how I might seal the radiator and what type of paint can I use .Thank you

  • Anthony Edmunds / Kalveena Griffiths's Answer

Your new heating system is more efficient so is heating the paint to a higher temperature but it s unlikely to be toxic. If the radiators are new they will have been factory prepared and sealed and do smell for a while. If they are existing radiators then reducing the temperature of the boiler a little for a few days to allow the paint to adjust to being heated up by the hotter metal may help and the smell should eventually go. Too many coats of paint on a radiator reduces the efficiency of the radiator. Removing paint from a radiator and re-applying is a long and messy job and it is sometimes more cost effective to replace an older radiator.

How easy is it to paint over "spar" on the front of my house. It's a bit like pebble dash but more very small bits rather than pebbles. Other houses in the street seem to have had it done in the past. I don't want the hassle of removing the rendering !!

  • Anthony Edmunds / Kalveena Griffiths's Answer

Use a long haired roller. It needs a stabilising solution applied first and then two coats of your chosen masonary paint. It is a long dirty and time consuming job but the result is worth the effort. Each subsequent re-painting becomes much easier to apply.
