Rewiring costs, 4 bed bungalow

Posted by Karen M, on
Looking for details on costs for a full rewire, electrian tells me he won't add or change any sockets unless I get a full rewire. There is also 2 small bathrooms ( old style ) and the fuse box needs replaced ( property is 80yrs old) so maybe all need grounding but I'm not sure.

There may be no need for a full rewire. It will need a new consumer unit as a min and earth bonding will prob need updating. If the wiring is old rubber it will need replacing. If the wire is twin n earth the electrical contractor can do tests to determine if it needs replacing or not. Get a couple of registered electricians to give you advice If your in Lancashire I can help you Thanks

Hi Karen Get another advise from registered electrician, Niceic or Select member and I think depends on condition of wiring they should be able to replace consumer units with new one or use RCBO for particular circuits. That means you can replace all sockets or just upgrade faulty circuits.

What would you like to do now?
