ashe electrical was very professional and friendly, they changed our fuse board and carried out other works which were not a problem for them, they also gave us advise on other works that we are thinking of doing and will be using them again for this, we will also be recommending them to our friends and family as it was a pleasure using them thanks for the great service

Although I've not had many dealings with tradesmen, I was very happy with the professional service I received. Plans changed around a lot (not fault of theirs) but they were able to fit me in at short notice (2 days after I called) and completed the job much quicker than I had originally thought, great all round, even giving me advice on making minor changes in the future even helped me pick up some plywood from timber yard. Would recommend to anyone.

I have placed my washing machine and condenser tumble dryer in the box, does it have to be earthed? It's placed on wooden decking and a rubber mat.

Hi mark Firstly I would make sure the metal box has an IP rating this will ensure not water can get into the appliances. You appliance will have there own earth attached to them via the plug top and will be then attached to the metal case inside, if you wanted to be belt and braces you can run 6mm earth bond to the metal outside box, I would also make sure to the power to the appliances and on a rcd Hope this helps Kind Regards David Ashe Ashe Electrical Ltd

Imagine you have discovered a water pipe in the bathroom that has been replaced at some previous time using a plastic connector. explain comprehensively why this situation could be dangerous ? describe how you would remedy the situation ?

Hi Damien If you have rcd protection on all your circuits you will only need a 10mm earth bonding to your water and gas if however your water main entering your building is plastic it would be pointless bonding this as plastic is non conductive Hope this helps

I'm looking to have a vent set up for my portable air conditioner, the hose diameter is 6 inches, would need someone to drill a core hole, install outside vent, would also need the outside vent and required ducting for core hole supplied by worker or advice what to buy

Hi Irene The best thing to do would be to get a tradesman to have a look as the price would depend on a number of factors such as cable runs the type of system etc, if you post a job on to rated people you can then choose up to three different tradesman to quote for your project Hope this helps

Faulty thermostat?

Is it normal for a thermostat to turn the boiler on for a minute or two, then turn it off again only to turn it back on again a few minutes later? We have the heating programmed to always be on as we have a new born baby and are relying on the thermostat to turn it on and off as needed - however coming on and off 4 times in 15 minutes seems excessive to me! Why doesn't it just stay on longer so it doesn't have to come back on again a few minutes later?! We have tried setting the thermostat at different temperatures to see if that makes a difference but it still does the same. We are in a new build house (2013) and so the system and insulation are all relatively new. We have a potterton promax system he plus a range condensing boiler system with a danfoss TP5000 Si range electronic 5/2 day programmable room thermostat and danfoss electronic 2 channel full programmer for heating and hot water. The constant clicking of the thermostat and starting/stopping of the boiler is disturbing us and the baby through the night - is it worth thinking about getting a new thermostat or is this just normal for a system like ours? Thanks in advance for any guidance or suggestions you can offer ??

Hi Rachel The first thing I would change is the thermostat as it sounds to this is what’s turning your boiler on a off all the time Hope this helps

We have an electric oven (Whirlpool) and we think an element has gone. It switches on, the light comes on and the fan starts but it doesn't get hot. Can't find that in any of the categories, where should I look?

Hi We used to install solar panels and have asked pervious customers weather they have seen any benefits from installing solar panels, most of them have the benefits are Saving on electric during the day Generating electric whatcha you sell back to the grid There are also now barriers you get get to store the electric that you create during the day to use at night The installation is also straight forward most of the time but make sure the installer is mcs and part p approved so they can register the installation this will allow you to claim your feeding in tariff from your energy supplier Hope this helps
