One to be careful with is the electrician Ben. The work seems alright, but his advise left us with excessive lighting in Kitchen and sitting room and our decision against TV sockets in ALL rooms was interpreted as NO TV and phone socket at all, which then later had to be added at extra cost and left the choice of suppliers limited. His crew also did the plumbing and the bathroom installation and the later was not done to the general standard of U&U constructions work.

Gaby is great and I strongly recommend him. I found him to be extremely reliable, exceptionally capable, a very tidy and clean workman, honest, fair and very reasonable in his costings. I also think that he can turn his hand to a lot of different jobs. Gaby installed complicated stair handrails on three floors and did a terrific job. I have already asked Gaby to do another exterior decorating job for me and would always ask Gaby to do all sorts of decorating, carpentry and building works .

George is a very reliable and responsible tradesman. On a short notice George was able to take on the job that our previous tradesman failed to finish due to very poor standard and work ethic. George was understanding of our situation and in a very professional manner finished the job. This was one of those jobs that had various problems from the start. Having said that SMS did put them all right without complaint. The quote given for the clearing of the site AND the complete redesign was excellent. The original deadline was missed by a long way primarily due to misjudging the anomalies of the site (eg the underlying concrete was a lot thicker than anticipated). SMS were slow in clearing the site after the work was done - it took almost three weeks before the last of the rubble and debris were moved. Overall, I am pleased with the work done and the final result and would be prepared to use them again.

We have not gone ahead with his quote but Piotr was excellent at contacting me and keeping in touch with regard to the appointments made for him to come and view the work. He was very friendly and professional and listened to what we wanted/needed and came back with a quote within a couple of days. I would have liked the quote to be a bit more detailed and ‘professional’ looking – but this was not the reason we decided not to work with him. I wish him luck with other jobs.

Oli is superb. Tidy, conscious, and adaptable. He stripped out the plasterboard walls and studwork in our home prior to remodelling. He worked quickly and confidently and respected our home. Whilst stripping out he came across some asbestos and he dealt with it appropriately, contacting an asbestos registered colleague and bagging it up and safety removing it at a very reasonable cost. We plan on using him again soon

George Bell came to work on some damp related issues in my flat in feb. since having completed the works the problems which first occurred have turned worse and George has been unwilling to get back in contact with me, despite chasing him for 5 months which only reaffirms that the job was poorly undertaken. Truly awful experience. The garage conversion was ok (bar the space around the electrical back boxes being stuffed with newspaper) but the flat refurbishment was a disaster. It started ok but as the tasks became more complex, the quality of work declined. The kitchen needed 3 fits, the bathroom has had to be rebuilt, the wiring has dropped into the walls, the joinery is execrable and the radiators don’t work. The job also took 16 weeks rather than 8.
