The price eventually quoted was deemed fair for the job. Given the age of the original post and therefore the weathered state of the brickwork, the finished repair looks great, the quality of the bricklaying and match of the bricks is just fine. We couldn't fault Steve's work or his reliability. He made and fitted our back gate under terrible conditions heavy rain all day. He bought his own canopy and sheeting to enable him to continue working in the awful weather. We wish we had known about him prior to us having work done on our house renovtion.
